Reliance Medical Practice Wyong venue for Bill Shortens Medicare announcement

Blog

On Thursday May 19th Opposition Leader, Bill Shorten visited the new Reliance Medical Practice in Wyong to announce his pledge to lift the freeze on Medicare. Media also arrived on mass via a dedicated bus that was dropped off out the front of Reliance Medical Practice at Unit 9c, 1-10 Amy Close, Wyong to hear the announcement which took place within the practice.

On arrival Mr Shorten was welcomed to the beautiful new practice by Director and owner of Reliance, Dr Rodney Beckwith. Beckwith was ‘proud to have the opportunity to host the leader of the opposition, Mr Bill Shorten, at Reliance Medical Wyong last Thursday. Reliance staff did a great job making the Labor election team most welcome during the visit’.

Reliance being a predominately bulk billing practice was an ideal location to make the announcement. Beckwith was able to show the opposition leader and the media crew around the practice, they were also able to meet with local patients and discuss the impact of policies with key stakeholders. Beckwith states ‘I am a strong supporter of bulk billing and Mr Shorten’s promise to properly index the Medicare Rebates makes bulk-billing sustainable’. Beckwith went on to say ‘Reliance Medical Practice is committed to affordable and accessible general practice care on the Central Coast. To achieve this we need an appropriate Medicare rebate’.

Mr Shorten and Health Spokesperson Cath King were very impressed with the high standards of the new premises, which have excellent design, technology, and equipment. “Sustained, reliable, and consistent funding for facilities such as this is necessary to justify continued investment in this vital infrastructure” said Beckwith.
